Counter Terrorism Awareness Advisor (CTAA)

Protect and Prepare, Counter Terrorism Policing South East
Near Gatwick
Full Time
Permanent

An opportunity has arisen for a Counter Terrorism Awareness Advisor (CTAA) to work with Counter Terrorism Policing, South East (CTPSE). This role is advertised to recruit a highly motivated, professional individual to join the National Counter Terrorism effort, as part of a specialised team.

The South East region (incorporating Hampshire Constabulary, Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley Police areas) contain locations and communities which are vulnerable to attack from terrorists and domestic extremists. This is an opportunity to join a team who are dedicated to protecting people against this threat. The ‘home’ base for the role will be near Gatwick: this however is a regional demand led role that responds to operational dynamics, with the majority of the role being required to work across Kent, Sussex and Surrey, so you may need to deliver service anywhere within the SE region.

The role primarily involves the delivery of awareness presentations, advice and briefings to business, agencies and internal and external partners to help reduce the vulnerability to and the impact of an attack in the South East. You will also develop new presentations that cater for individual customer needs.

As a representative of CTPSE and Thames Valley Police, you will show personal drive, an ability to work alone but also as part of a team, good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate at all levels with confidence. You will demonstrate excellent presentation, planning and IT skills; and be customer focused and sympathetic to community needs and expectations.

Hours of work will be 37 hours per week, primarily between 8am and 6pm; flexibility however will be required on occasions. You will travel extensively throughout the region for business purposes so will need to have a current, full driving licence. There will be a presentation as part of this selection process, details of which will be communicated to short-listed candidates.

The successful applicant will be required to attend a CTAA training course, where a ‘pass’ will be necessary for continued employment. Due to being exposed to sensitive information in connection with the role, you will be required to successfully complete vetting procedures.

For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold or acquire appropriate security clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals.
