Digital Forensic Services are vital to helping our officers to combat crime, protect the vulnerable, enable safer communities, and make a difference that really matters. Thames Valley Police is making a multi-year investment in our Forensic Investigation Unit and is transforming our wide array of forensic disciplines and in particular digital forensics, to create a forward looking, accredited service which delivers proportionate timely services that support effective crime investigation for TVP and other external organisations.  

As part of this transformation, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Digital Portfolio of Forensic Investigation Unit (FIU) as a Digital Forensic Unit Operational Supervisor.

Reporting to the Digital Forensic Operational Manager, you will be responsible for day to day management of the Digital Forensic Unit managing a team of specialists in the investigation of Digital Forensics; ensuring an efficient, timely and high quality service. Delivering training and mentoring and optimising the available technologies. Provide strategies, tactical support and guidance to SIO’s, OIC’s, staff and others regarding submissions and techniques for optimising digital intelligence. Management of wellbeing of staff is paramount owing to the nature of work involved.

The successful candidate will have: 

- Previous experience of managing / supervising teams in a high demand environment and in line with ISO Quality Standards.
- Strong people / communication skills with excellent problem solving skills
- Experience of successfully managing and coordinating their own and others workloads 
- Proven experience in digital forensic work, or of working in a technical or forensic environment. 
- Current management experience and ability to deploy the correct resource to achieve the operational requirements.
- Willingness to learn and keep up to date with technologies, capabilities, relevant legislation and guidance, with proven participation in continued professional development.
- Current management experience, along with the detailed technical knowledge and ability to deploy the correct resource and solution to achieve the best operational requirements. 
- Must have capability to travel to different locations across the Force and undertake all assignments in a timely manner. Due to the requirement to work flexibly, unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working; public transport may not be available or suitable at these times. For this reason a full UK driving licence is considered.

Along with all other posts in Force Crime, Intelligence and Specialist Operations Departments, this role will require an enhanced level of vetting.

The successful applicant will be expected to undertake the established psychological screening process.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice.
