Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) is a collaboration of the five South East police forces, and works with the UK Intelligence community to help protect the public and our national security.
To support this important work, CTPSE have established an ICT Team who are involved in a range of technical tasks from every day user support to the discovery and development of new bespoke specialist solutions for trailblazing technologies in policing. We are pleased to advertise the opportunity to form part of this exciting team.
The ICT Specialist Engineer role is to support, develop, maintain and provide technical IT services to CTPSE staff across the region in a diverse range of functions. The focus is in areas including desktop and user support, network management, server maintenance and project work. The role holder will need to undertake regular regional site work and to identify and maintain a variety of IT systems, working with the team to turn ideas into solutions, and building new systems and services. This role will be key to ensuring that CTP has the technical infrastructure in place that it needs to deliver the vital service that it provides to the communities within the South East and across the United Kingdom.
As a Specialist engineer, you will be required to represent the team to lead and be accountable for a number of technical projects; working with colleagues in other departments and also independently at times. This will call on your organisation and communication skills alongside the demand for your technical mindset.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of supporting and maintaining core infrastructure solutions including Windows Desktop and Server environments, mass storage and IP networking. They will have experience in planning, designing, building and delivering these solutions to agreed specifications, and are comfortable working without direct supervision.
It is essential that they have the flexibility to regularly travel across the South East region as need arises, and therefore a UK driving licence is essential. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. For this reason a full UK Driving Licence is essential to the role.
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level DV together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
