Flexible and proactive in its approach to arrest, disruption and prosecution of those involved in serious criminality. CID invest in partnership working including local partners; HM Coroners, Social Care, Housing, Mental Health Services and internally with other LPAs and departments such as CJ, Forensics, SOCU and Intelligence. Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit - DC role profile attached above

DAIU staff investigate all domestic abuse offences where the risk to the victim has been assessed as high, ranging from a battery through to attempted murder. The unit deal with serious sexual offences and rape within a domestic setting. In certain circumstances they may offer investigative advice around standard and medium risk cases especially where the offence and surrounding circumstances are serious and complex.

The unit also specialises in dealing with stalking offences which are assessed as high risk, whether or not they occur within a domestic context. They may also deal with specific neglect offences which occur in care homes or within a care settings and decisions are made on a case by case basis.

Staff within the unit also contribute to the Multi-Agency Tasking and Co-ordination (MATAC) process for the force and manage the disruption of the most serious and persistent offenders through Operation Vocal joint working with the Joint Operations Unit (JOU).

DAIU staff also work in partnership with the Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVA’s), Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (ISVA’s) and wide range of partner agencies to keep victims safe. Much of their work is undertaken via the Multi-agency risk assessment conference (MARAC) where high risk victims are discussed. DAIU staff also participate in Multi-agency Public Protection Arrangement (MAPPA) meetings.

Priority Crime Team - DC role profile attached above

PCT deal with Residential Burglaries, Robberies and Crime Series Investigations identified with THOR, either through the DMM or through weekly crime meetings. As well as these offences the PCT will seek to identify and disrupt Organised Crime Groups operating on the LPA and will prioritise those which bring the highest THOR.

PCT also works to understand crime patterns and investigate/managing those individuals who are causing the most harm in relation to acquisitive crime.

In relation to burglaries, PCT focus on local repeat offenders, and cross border ‘career criminals’ who are forensically and digitally aware making these crimes much harder to prevent and detect. PCT use overt and covert techniques and work closely with other LPA’s and forces to achieve best results. PCT also does a lot of work behind the scenes with all burglary offences (including non-dwelling) to try to save OIC’s unnecessary work. PCT work closely with FIH, forensics, Criminal Justice, POLIT, VISOR, ICR, NHPT, SRT and Tasking Team.

PCT work consists of strong team and collaborative/partnership working with the focus being on OCG and offender disruption, man hunting, CDL’s, nominal management and intelligence development. They are flexible in their approach and utilise disruption techniques and catch/convict methods to resolve LPA priority issues.  PCT also contributes to the Night Turn Detective rota providing support for all serious and complex crime.
