Expected Start Date: Monday 30th September (Please note that start dates will be subject to impact assessment with T&R)

Expected End Date: Sunday 8th December (Please note that end dates are subject to change and, depending on the needs of the department, may be extended or reduced)

In this role you will be responsible for the supervision of Police Officers and Staff working within the MOSOVO unit managing Sexual and Violent Offenders.

Skills/Experience: All applicants MUST:

  • Have completed the national MOSOVO course

  • Be trained and proficient in using the ViSOR computer system.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Supervise staff in the management of relevant offenders, in line with line with the Sexual Offences Act (2003), MAPPA guidance, force policy and APP guidelines. Maintain a good understanding of current legislation, force policy and external agency protocols.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal departments and external partner agencies. Work with Local Police Areas to develop working practices in support of risk management plans.

  • Complete timely reviews on all systems, in line with user guidance, for risk assessments, risk management plans, and other relevant tasks.

  • Supervise and develop staff to ensure that all investigative opportunities are taken in order to identify further offending, and allow risk to be accurately assessed.

  • Oversee referrals in to MAPPA, and attend and engage in Level 2 and Level 3 MAPPA meetings, and other internal/ external meetings as appropriate. Ensure that Police actions are allocated and completed on time.

  • Understand and ensure that all opportunities are taken to develop and utilise available technology to manage offenders, and that staff maintain ongoing CPD.

  • Put in place procedures to monitor performance in support of departmental objectives.

  • Ensure all information and intelligence is appropriately evaluated, submitted and actioned, in accordance with MOPI Guidance.

  • Develop plans to monitor and support staff welfare in line with departmental policy.

  • Ensure all necessary enquiries are completed when applications are received under the Child Sex Offences Disclosure Scheme

  • Act as point of contact to provide tactical advice on all aspects of MAPPA, SOA 2003, and other relevant orders and support training as required.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner.
