Role Profile: Police Constable - Neighbourhood Supervisor

In this role you will deliver engagement, visibility and targeted activity through the development and delivery of operational plans. Work in conjunction with Local Authority, third sector and community partners to deliver key priorities. Supervise, manage and develop PCSOs on your team.

Principle Responsibilities:

• Manage the development and performance of a team of PCSOs to deliver LCU and Force priorities and community engagement, reassurance and resilience.
• Engage with the community in a variety of forums to identify local priorities; working with them to develop and deliver solutions in order to support community resilience.
• Direct and manage the development of patrol plans to ensure a visible policing presence, the disruption of criminal activity and the promotion of community confidence. Use a variety of media to publicise the work of the Neighbourhood Teams in order to promote community engagement.
• Work collaboratively with a range of partners (including KINS), using intelligence and problem solving methodologies to identify, target and divert those people and activities causing harm to communities and to develop and deliver targeted responses.
• Own and manage problem solving activity adopting evidence based practice and a problem solving approach (OSARA/OSARA Lite) to reduce harm, demand and increase community resilience and confidence.
• Deliver planned and spontaneous policing responses to a range of crime and ASB-related issues, e.g. Night time economy, unauthorised encampments, neighbourhood crime.
• Investigate and supervise allocated crimes, and non-crimes, using the Endeavour Principles to deliver quality investigations and ensure victim satisfaction.
• Gather, record and develop appropriate response to intelligence from within the community.9. Work with partners to identify those at risk of harm, support problem solving primary and secondary interventions and identify, disrupt and bring to justice perpetrators.
• Maintain knowledge and awareness of developments in the theory and practice of neighbourhood policing including APP, College of Policing guidance and evidence based practice.

• Completed Line Managers Endorsement Form:
  • All applicants must complete the Line Manager Endorsement Form. The form requires a Chief Inspector or Superintendent’s signature, regardless of whether they are on the Shortlisting Panel. Please be aware that verbal endorsement will not be accepted.

Important Guidance for Applicants:

If you are currently in a Force critical post, there is an expectation that you will remain in that post for a minimum of two years before applying to change roles (or 18 months for custody sergeants).

Candidates may be required to pass vetting and OHU or attend assessments and courses for this role. If any of these are failed the candidate will be posted back to their previous position.
