Applications are invited from Substantive Constables and will also be invited from Student Officers who have completed Year 1.

In this role you will deliver engagement, visibility and targeted activity through the development and delivery of operational plans. Work in conjunction with Local Authority, third sector and community partners to deliver LPA and Force priorities.

Role Requirement: Due to the requirement to deliver a visible policing presence role holders must be able to deploy outside Police Premises in uniform and engage directly with the community on a risk assessed basis where required. The potential for verbal and physical confrontation can therefore be risk assessed but not completely removed. Support planned and spontaneous Policing operations the role holder will occasionally be required to vary their duty pattern to meet the operational needs.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Engage with the community in a variety of forums in person and on line to listen and understand their needs and work with them to develop and deliver solutions to a range of NH issues in order to support community resilience.
  • Develop patrol plans that ensure a visible policing presence in order to disrupt criminal activity and promote community confidence. Use a variety of media to publicise the work of the Neighbourhood Teams in order to promote community engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with a range of partners using intelligence and problem solving methodologies to identify, target and divert those people and activities causing harm to the community and to develop and deliver targeted responses.
  • Own and manage low level problem solving activity adopting evidence based practice and a problem solving approach (OSARA/OSARA Lite) to reduce harm, demand and increase community resilience and confidence.
  • Deliver both planed and spontaneous Policing responses to a range of NH issues e.g. Neighbourhood disputes, Night time economy and Traveller incursions etc. Provide a policing response e.g Neighbourhood disputes, NTE economy, traveller incursions etc. Deliver both planned and spontaneous responses.
  • Own and investigate allocated crime using the Endeavour principles to deliver quality investigations and ensure victim satisfaction.
  • Gather, record and develop appropriate response to intelligence from within the community.
  • Work with partners to identify those at risk of harm, support problem solving primary and secondary interventions and identify, disrupt and bring to justice perpetrators.
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of developments in the theory and practice of neighbourhood policing including APP, College of Policing guidance and evidence based practice.

If you are currently in a Force critical post, there is an expectation that you will remain in that post for a minimum of two years before applying to change roles (or 18 months for custody sergeants).
