In this role you will support the Chief Superintendent, LCU Commander and their SMT with the discharge of their partnership and local, regional and national strategic portfolio responsibilities.

The role will require flexibility in terms of working hours and the ability to travel to different locations across the Force as required.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Be involved in researching and preparing briefings on a range of operational and non-operational topics, drafting reports, papers and correspondence as well as preparing presentations.
  • Support the LCU Commander’s in-Force and national and regional portfolio work.
  • Deliver on delegated projects within portfolio areas.
  • As required facilitate, prepare for and attend meetings with or on behalf of (in the absence of a recognised deputy) the LCU Commander. Distribute meeting papers including agendas and action logs, deliver updates and actively monitor, collate and record action updates on behalf of the LCU Commander.
  • Working with the LCU Performance Inspector and LCU Support Inspector ensure that the LCU Commander is fully briefed prior to Force Performance Group and provide briefings and prepare data as required for the meeting itself.
  • Through formal and informal networking maintain awareness of developments within portfolio areas and impacting on policing more generally.
  • Provide administrative and operational support (including where appropriate and possible operational deployment) to the LCU Commander during Gold/Silver meetings and Major/Critical incidents.

If you are currently in a Force critical post, there is an expectation that you will remain in that post for a minimum of two years before applying to change roles (or 18 months for custody sergeants).

Candidates may be required to pass vetting and OHU or attend assessments and courses for this role. If any of these are failed the candidate will be posted back to a response role on an LPA. Postings are determined in accordance with organisational need although consideration will be given to personal circumstances.
