In this role you will provide leadership in managing and developing a team of officers; act as the operational link to SMT and deliver local and force priorities working with colleagues and departments; oversee, manage and drive investigations and missing person enquires and victim satisfaction; and take ownership in prioritising policing response.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Management of the initial response to critical incidents, in alignment with relevant frameworks and guidance, ensuring effective deployment, management and prioritisation of incidents in line with Threat Risk and Harm and Force priorities. Conduct PACE responsibilities in line with Force policies and Guidance.
  • Use management tools and available data to drive performance in line with local and force priorities including investigation standards and positive outcomes.
  • Provide active and visible leadership to direct and manage the team, setting out local priorities and objectives in line with force priorities and provide supportive and clear management to the team.
  • Create a culture that actively support staff wellbeing through an effective supportive and caring management ethos that values people, diversity and inclusion.
  • Employ and communicate effective processes to interpret and convert strategic objectives into tactical options and capabilities, ensuring interoperability across teams and partners, whilst focused on delivering key organisational objectives including safeguarding, signposting problem solving and demand reduction opportunities in order to prevent re-offending.
  • Set victim satisfaction as a key cornerstone of service delivery for the team and establishing a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
  • Provide an effective response to expressions of dissatisfaction promptly and impartially, investigate and challenge inappropriate behaviour and uphold the professional standards of behaviour, Code of Ethics and performance within the Response teams.

Essential role based training: 

  • Crime investigation (supervision) training.
  • Post Incident Procedures (PIM).
  • Annual recertification in officer safety training and JRFT. ESTIM training.

Essential Training Prior to Appointment: 

  • Niche.
  • Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Protocol (JESIP).
  • Core Leadership Program level 2.
