This role will report to one of the D/Sgts RASO SSP.
The post holder will be working to support the integration of the Bluestone/Soteria pillars and will have capacity to interchange between those pillars as required.
They will support the Force in all aspects of RASO investigation at a practical level, to include suspect and victim interviewing, case file preparation in conjunction with the RASO EROs and liaison with CPS.
The candidate will be an experienced Detective with proven capability in the investigation of rape including liaison with CPS and Crown Court experience.

Skills/Experience:

  • Recent experience in rape investigations.
  • Knowledge of CPS case building and TWIF process
  • VRI trained - preferable
  • SSAIDIP/SCAIDP trained - essential

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Support the D/Sgt leads in driving the Bluestone/Soteria pillars and the practical application of the same.
  • Deploy force wide and embed in the investigation team to take the lead on elements of investigations where additional support is needed e.g. stranger attacks, high profile cases, complex abuse.
  • Provide practical support to investigation teams by means of sharing best practice from across the Force to develop a consistent approach to RASO investigations.
  • Identify recurrent themes for discontinuation of cases for CID, DAIU and CAIU and highlight awareness for improvement.
  • Monitor victim disengagement and provide data to review timelines and rationale for same. Develop strategy to reduce disengagement and increase victim confidence in TVP.
  • Work in conjunction with the RASO EROs to develop bespoke training to investigation teams.
  • Deputise for RASO DS as required both within TVP and with partners.
  • Support Special Measures in conjunction with Witness Care, Witness Support and in line with the Force Lead.
  • Work with the Crime Strategy Unit to develop and maintain Operational Guidance, Snap Guides and RASO Intranet page to ensure up to date guidance is refreshed and reviewed.

Essential Training Prior to Appointment:

  • National Investigators Exam (NIE).
  • National Detective Training Programme – Initial Crime Investigators Development Programme (ICIDP).
  • PIP 2 Accreditation.
  • SSAIDP or SCAIDP trained.
  • Tier 2 investigative interview course.
  • Recent Crown Court Experience in RASO work.
