In this role you will develop plans and tactics in line with The College of Policing Neighbourhood Guidelines, Force and Local Priorities, in order to deliver Neighbourhood Policing in partnership with stake holders and the public. Promote Problem Solving approaches to tackle key priorities, reduce demand and Safeguard the most vulnerable members of the Community.

Role Requirement: Due to the requirement to support LPA and Partnership meetings, planned and spontaneous Policing operations, the role holder will occasionally be required to vary their duty pattern to meet the operational needs.
Form part of the PACE rota for the Force.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Lead Neighbourhood Teams managing resources effectively ensuring resilience, performance and development in order to deliver LPA and Force priorities.
  • Develop tactical and operational plans to build community resilience and increase Community Engagement particularly with the hidden and vulnerable communities to prevent and reduce crime through various forms of contact.
  • Develop and direct Neighbourhood Policing teams in the use of OSARA and OSARA Lite principles in partnership with statutory and third sector organisations to ensure Community based solutions are employed to tackle priority crimes, reduce crime and deliver safeguarding through Early Intervention, Prevention and Enforcement. Using diversion and disruption address ‘persistent and resistant’ demand in relation to repeat locations, individuals and offenders.
  • Ensure Problem Solving activity is recorded in line with the OSARA assessment guidance. Actively oversee the supervision of Problem Solving occurrences, risk management occurrences and investigations in line with Operational Guidance.
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of developments in the theory and practice of Neighbourhood Policing and Problem Solving including APP, College of Policing guidance and evidence based practice and ensure team members maintain an up to date CPD.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of specialist problem solving plans and tactics as required in support of LPA priorities such as CSE, Schools and Domestic Abuse.
  • Direct the use of intelligence and data sharing with partners to identify, target and divert those causing most harm to communities and vulnerable individuals at risk from hidden harm.
  • Direct the development a range of two way communication methodologies to promote the work of the NH Teams and encourage community engagement.
  • Supervise the policing response to operational incidents and actively manage subsequent investigations using the Endeavour principles to deliver quality investigations and ensure victim satisfaction.
  • Oversee and direct an intelligence led approach i.e. TTCG, DMM, analytical work and community forums to prioritise NH Teams activities, patrol plans and Problem Solving.
  • Represent the LPA by attending, and if required chairing, LPA and partnership meetings in the absence of SMT.
