PIP 2 Investigator
This is an exciting opportunity for a PIP 2 Investigator to join Major Crime Headquarters to help solve the most serious crime of murder, serious sexual offences and crimes in action.
Applications are sought from qualified PIP2 investigators looking to develop themselves and work in the investigation of the most serious offences. Successful applicants will be working in Major Crime incident rooms taking a pivotal role in the investigation of homicide offences, whilst having the opportunity to develop themselves as investigators and specialise in interviewing witnesses, suspects and supporting the families of victims, however we would accept applicants who have PIP 1 accreditation or equivalent experience of working in an investigative role within the criminal justice system. Must have or be able to obtain a National Investigators Exam (NIE) pass, within two attempts (there are currently 4 opportunities in a calendar year) or within a year of entry as a maximum, in order to remain in post. The full Investigators Development Programme (IDP) including the portfolio must be completed within 3 years of passing the NIE in order to achieve Professionalising Investigations Programme (PIP) 2 accreditation which is mandatory for the role.

Capability to travel across the Force is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly. Due to unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working public transport may not be suitable. For this reason a full driving licence is considered essential for this role.

Candidates must have the PIP2 accreditation or equivalent investigative experience to apply for this role.
The successful candidate will be subject to enhanced vetting and psychological screening due to the nature of the role.

Vetting. All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary.
