In this role you will develop the quality of investigations and prosecutions across TVP by leading and supporting various Criminal Justice functions, including the Justice Gateway and Youth Justice Decision Makers. Working in partnership with key CJ stakeholders and providing direct support to Investigators and their supervisors to improve case file quality and timeliness, improving outcomes for victims and witnesses.
Skills/Experience:
- Evidential Review and decision making knowledge beneficial.
- Experience and understanding of partnership work essential
- Experience and understanding of Youth Justice delivery beneficial
Principle Responsibilities:
- Provide managerial and subject matter expert (SME) support to the various CJ portfolios including the Justice Gateway and Youth Justice Teams, together with the Disclosure and CJ Digital Tac Ads. Act as the CJ operational lead for Youth Justice and Disclosure across TVP.
- Support the development and management of the CJ ‘Justice Gateway’, including Youth Justice Decision makers to standardise and streamline access to Justice outcomes. Lead reviews/audits of key CJ business areas to identify opportunities to develop and improve
- Support the delivery of key CJ change projects, including the increased utilisation of technological solutions, by acting as the operational business lead.
- Represent Criminal Justice at a range of internal strategic meetings, including vulnerability groups and risk meetings. Represent TVP at a range of meetings with external CJ stakeholders, such as the Local Criminal Justice Groups (LCJGs) and HMCTS Court User Groups, aimed at developing working practices to improve wider CJ performance and at national CJ forums and working groups to implement new legislation/guidance, identify and share good practice.
- Develop positive working relationships and practices with key CJ partners and seek opportunities to collaborate with other police forces to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
- Support the development of LCU and OCU performance/governance frameworks around key CJ business areas such as file quality and victim code compliance.
- Act as a point of escalation for CJ, both internally and externally, to resolve fast time, case specific issues and identify organisational learning.
- Deliver training on a range of CJ subjects to a variety of audiences, both internally and externally, aimed at improving investigative and prosecution performance.
- Lead the development and delivery of a Justice Gateway accreditation programme.
