Technology Services is a function within the Joint ICT Department of Hampshire Constabulary and Thames Valley Police. We are responsible for keeping the blue lights on and delivering innovative solutions to ensure Police Officers and staff can access key services that allow us to stay online, connected and ahead of the game. We are looking for dynamic technologists to help lead the technical delivery and support of our next generation infrastructure environment.

 

As a Principal Engineer within the Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) team, you will be responsible for providing the highest level of technical expertise for Microsoft Azure work streams bringing both proven experience and best practice to help drive innovation and operational efficiencies and benefits to our customers.

 

You will be working closely with our Architecture and Strategy teams to help define and influence our future technical roadmaps whilst supporting our business-as-usual initiative, producing design and migration documents and provide guidance and knowledge transfer to the wider team. You will apply functional knowledge and technical expertise in the Microsoft cloud offerings and promote innovative solutions to our customers. There is currently scope for this role to be carried out remotely. There will however be occasions when travel to Hampshire Constabulary and Thames Valley Police offices will be required to meet operational requirements.

 

Essential Skills:

 

  • Experience in leading the implementation and support of a broad range of Microsoft and related vendors infrastructure technologies including Windows Server, Azure Cloud and VMware.

 

  • Proven experience working across different infrastructure and application platforms and delivery mechanisms including Cloud hosting (IaaS and hybrid).

 

  • Experience in leading the implementation of Cloud infrastructure solutions focusing on developing and implementing cloud services, including cost optimisation and security policies.

 

  • Proven experience of working with Microsoft Azure Compute, Data, Network and App Services stacks.

 

  • Customer focused adept at mapping business needs to technology solutions and ability to articulate the benefits to both technical and non-technical audiences.

 

  • Strong team leadership experience with the ability to support and mentor other engineers.
