THAMES VALLEY POLICE PROMOTION SELECTION BOARDS –

CHIEF INSPECTOR

Applications are invited from substantive Inspectors, temporary Inspectors who will be substantive Inspectors by January 2021, and acting Chief Inspectors who wish to apply for promotion to the rank of Chief Inspector, and Chief Inspectors seeking level transfer to fill a number of vacancies throughout Thames Valley Police.

All applications must be submitted online via the Thames Valley Police website. The online advert includes all relevant documents and guidance. Please read through these carefully.

The Application must include:

  1. A two page ‘Why Me, Why Now’ letter, evidencing against the Step up to Chief Inspector process. This process is linked with the CVF behaviours at level 2. This should be set out as a formal letter with the applicants' work address on the top right side, addressed to the Chief Constable, and signed off by the applicant.
  2. Last full closed PDR, including CPD
  3. LPA/Department  Commander endorsement form
  4. Previous Feedback if you have been unsuccessful at a previous application

Shortlisting is subject to the number of applications received. Board interviews will be held from the week commencing 16th November 2020.

The successful candidates will be promoted into a pool to ensure sufficient resources for current and anticipated vacancies over the forthcoming 12 months.

Applicants are reminded that they are applying for promotion within Thames Valley and a degree of flexibility is expected in terms of postings.

The closing date for receipt of eligible supported applications is 2355 on Sunday 25th October 2020

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
