Expression of Interests are sought from substantive Detective Inspectors for a secondment opportunity and Substantive Detective Sergeants (qualified for acting) for an acting opportunity with South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU). The length of the secondment/acting will be for a period of 12 months (with a review March 2021).

As part of the National County Lines Coordination Centre (NCLCC) structure, work with Force County Lines (CL) bronzes, other TCSO’s and partners to coordinate and improve the law enforcement response to the CL threat. This will be achieved by driving pursue activity through providing tactical advice & support to police forces, law enforcement partners and regional investigative syndicates whilst delivering on any national requirements fed from the NCLCC.

You will work closely with the NCLCC and ROCU Ops Co-ordinator to ensure that links and opportunities identified by the NCA / NCLCC are fed through to the relevant forces and partner agencies for consideration for positive action based on the 4P principles.  

You will have experience of investigating and managing crime in a multi-agency setting. You must have a good understanding of intelligence and performance management processes and techniques. It is also essential that you have knowledge of County Lines threat or experience of working within a public protection related area. This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home.

Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to enhanced level. Furthermore, due to the nature and sensitivity of work carried out we require that candidates not only hold this vetting level but that they also undertake additional security clearances which include additional nationality checks. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage
