The Senior Appointments Board has decided to seek applications for the posts of Head of Neighbourhood Policing and Partnerships and Head of Tasking and Resilience

Head of Neighbourhood Policing and Partnerships

As the Head of Neighbourhood Policing and Partnerships (NP+P) you will be responsible for leading the NP+P department and its staff, including the development of force strategies and strategic partnerships and the delivery of key organisational change projects. You will report directly to the Assistant Chief Constable Neighbourhood Policing and Partnerships and, as a senior leader, be expected to play an active part in broader strategic issues.

Head of Tasking and Resilience

As the Head of Tasking and Resilience, you will be responsible for delivery of daily operational resilience across the Force, delivery of effective and efficient workforce deployment and oversight of the Force DMM process. Additional responsibilities include ownership and direction of the strategic resourcing and resilience programme board and being the professional lead for patrol policing and critical incident management. You will report directly to the Assistant Chief Constable Operations and, as a senior leader, be expected to play an active part in broader strategic issues.

Applications are invited from substantive Chief Superintendents or Superintendents seeking promotion, who wish to be considered for either or both of the roles.

If you are interested, you should submit your application to your Chief Officer to allow completion of the Chief Officer section of the application form. Fully completed applications must be submitted to the Director of People by 1200 hrs on the 11 February 2015. Applications must make clear which post (s) you are applying for and your preferred post if applying for more than one role.

Summary of Application Requirements:
- Covering letter (no more than one side of A4 addressing the ‘Why Me’ question).
- Competency based self-assessment application form (copy available from Kate Wilkinson, PA to Director of People). Please note that this requires comment from your Chief Officer Line Manager on performance in the current PDR year and your suitability for promotion and appointment.
- Career History and Qualifications (pro forma attached)
- Most recent PDR

Selection Process

- The Shortlisting Panel will comprise Alan Baldwin Assistant Chief Constable, Neighbourhood Policing and Partnerships and Chris Shead Assistant Chief Constable, Tasking and Resilience.
 Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the written application.
 The Panel will be making their assessment against the seven competencies contained in the self-assessment template. You will be expected to demonstrate your operational proficiency and self development and to recognise the importance of performance, service delivery and value for money.
 Evidence will be drawn from your career history, your ‘Why Me’ letter, the competency self-assessment, your Chief Officer line manager comment and your most recent PDR.
 The Shortlisting Panel will take place on TBC

- The Selection Panel will comprise Sara Thornton, Chief Constable, Francis Habgood, Deputy Chief Constable and Steven Chase, Director of People.
 Candidates will be asked to give a 10 minute presentation, following a 45 minute preparation period.
 The presentation will be followed by an interview which will address issues raised in the presentation before exploring wider topics.
 The Panel will be making their assessment against the seven competencies contained in the self-assessment template.
 The Selection Panels will take place on Wednesday 18 March 2015.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
