PROMOTION SELECTION BOARDS – INSPECTOR TO CHIEF INSPECTOR


Applications are invited from substantive Inspectors who wish to apply for promotion to the rank of Chief Inspector and Chief Inspectors seeking level transfer to fill a number of vacancies throughout Thames Valley Police.


The successful candidates will be promoted into a pool to ensure sufficient resources for current and anticipated vacancies over the forthcoming 12 months.

Promotion application and guidance notes are attached. Please read through this carefully and make a note of the key dates.


The application must include a copy of your most recent full 12 month PDR which should have been rated and closed by your determining officer. You must also include a copy of your CPD and previous feedback if you have been unsuccessful at a previous application or board and also your Operational Portfolio if you have completed one.


Applications will be shortlisted by a central panel of assessors by 18th August 2017. Successful candidates at the shortlisting stage will be asked to attend a board which will include a 10 minute presentation, the topic of which will be provided on the day. These will be held from 1st of September onwards.


Closing date for receipt of eligible and supported applications is 12 noon on 21st of July 2017.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
