Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to support the creation of a “Food Academy” initiative involving local students from The Royal Bough of Windsor and Maidenhead. This scheme is funded by the Army Covenant and aims to integrate families from the armed services within the wider community.

The aims of the initiative include the support of children’s personal, social and emotional development by giving them opportunities to develop their self-confidence and self-awareness. The scheme itself will consist of a number of 8 week cooking programmes throughout the year which culminate in a Community Banquet and provide a forum for learning and development. Students may come from diverse communities and will include those vulnerable to crime or social exclusion.

Sessions will run on a weekday evening in Windsor. Good interpersonal skills are required and a desire to help mentor and support young people. Volunteers need to be over 18 years old.

The main tasks are:

-          Assist in the management of weekly meetings

-          Support students during the weekly session as well as at the end of course banquet

-          Assist with the setting up and clearing of each session

-          Assist with the organisation and delivery of the end of course banquet

-          Cooking skills are not essential but we would welcome volunteers with a catering background to support the sustainability of the project.

If you can spare approximately 3 hours per week, please complete the online application form. If you have any queries on completing the application form, please contact People Services Recruitment Department on 0845 2 66 66 77, quoting reference 13889.

Please note this vacancy will be removed once sufficient candidates have been sourced.
