Inspector – CT Border Policing Services - 2 Year Secondment (Extendable to 5 years subject to annual reviews)
Applications are invited from substantive Inspectors / Detective Inspectors for the post of Inspector – Counter Terrorism Border Policing Services (Based in Counter Terrorism Policing – South East).
This is an exciting opportunity to assist the national lead of CT Border Policing Services with responsibility for the line management of a number of key CT Border Policing portfolios across the CT network responsible for identification and targeting of terrorist threats and subjects of national security interest as they travel to and from the UK.
The post holder will be required to work across the national CT Border Policing Services portfolio in support of the DCI and responsibilities will include:
Representing and deputising for the Head of CT Border Policing when required to do so
- Providing leadership and support to the National Maritime Assessment Centre (NMAC), Fast Parcel Targeting Assessment Centre (FPTAC) and Frontier Targeting Team (FTT) teams
- Responsibility for NMAC, FPTAC and FTT performance
- Responsibility for ensuring that front line CT Border Policing receives the highest quality targeting products (via the Regional Control Desks)
- Responsibility to ensure that analytical products produces are of the highest quality to inform the threat, risk, and vulnerabilities at the UK Border to inform resourcing decisions
As well as leading the police teams within NMAC, FPTAC and FTT you will have responsibility for managing relationships between key partners, including Border Force (BF), the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the Security and Intelligence Agencies.
You will be based within the Counter Terrorism Policing - South-East (CTP-SE) network, but under the line management of the DCI of CT Border Policing Services. You will be required lead on the targeting of both people and commodities crossing the UK border that is of interest to the CT network.
The successful applicant will ideally be able to demonstrate experience of;
- developing systems and processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency with tight deadlines
- managing staff and team performance and performance systems
- delivering presentations and briefings to large multi-agency audiences
- leading teams across portfolios and geographic areas
- working in collaboration with partner agencies at all levels
There is a need to travel both domestically and internationally to engage with staff, key partners, and deliver briefings and presentations when required. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. You must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced level.
For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold or acquire appropriate security clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. This is a national requirement.
