The role of Counter Terrorism Security Advisers (CTSAs) is to deliver CT protective security advice and awareness training to Crowded Places, Hazardous Sites and Critical National Infrastructure, in order to secure environments from terrorism and extremism and to ensure proportionate personal security advice is delivered.

In this role you will conduct counter terrorism security surveys to national standards of relevant sites and sectors and provide specialist advice in recommending and influencing the implementation of measures to reduce their vulnerability. You will ensure that site owners/operators comply with statutory obligations outlined in the Anti-Terrorism Crime and Security Act 2001 regarding the security of designated pathogens and toxins or comply with statutory obligations outlined in the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010.

The ideal candidate would possess the following characteristics, but if you feel you have transferable skills that would allow you to excel in the role you are encouraged to apply;

 

  • Can demonstrate an understanding of the threat from, and current affairs in, terrorism, current terrorist methodology and the police response to those threats.
  • Proven and well evidenced experience of problem solving coupled with sound judgement/ decision making and the ability to assimilate and assess large volumes of information to assist in that process often within tight time constraints.
  • An effective team player also able to work well with a minimum of supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing demands and to deal with several complex issues simultaneously; demonstrating their proficiency in time management and the ability to prioritise and manage their work efficiently.
  • Required to complete or have completed the current National CTSA Accreditation process or have attained Certificate of Occupational Competence within two years of the initial course by successfully completing mandatory courses and surveys to a national standard whilst attaining the City and Guilds.
