Our Counter Terrorism Policing Investigations team leads terrorism investigations across the South East, as well as a number of the higher risk or complex terrorism investigations in the South West region.

In this role, you will implement strategies to service the needs of highly sensitive, covert and overt Counter Terrorism (CT) operations. You will manage covert and overt exhibits in support of Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) investigations.

The successful applicant will attend terrorism-related incidents such as unexploded and exploded bomb or CBRN scenes, and take responsibility as a scene investigator for the effective management of such incidents.

After training, the role holder will provide professional advice on examinations of the related premises, vehicles and locations; ensuring that the forensic strategy set by the CTSIO is delivered.

This is an exciting and challenging role, where you will have responsibility on behalf of the CTSIO for the management of all exhibits generated within a CT investigation, including exhibit handling, scene management, scene investigation, submission of exhibits and liaise with external forensic suppliers and experts.

At a practitioner level, you will represent the regional Counter Terrorism Unit at hazardous, Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) and Chemical Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) incidents.

CTPSE are committed to becoming the most diverse team in the South East. We encourage interest and applications from candidates of all backgrounds and particularly welcome applications from female and BAME (black, Asian and minority ethic) candidates to enable us to truly reflect the communities we serve.

Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to level of SC enhanced.  Furthermore, due to the nature and sensitivity of work carried out we require that candidates not only hold this vetting level but that they also undertake additional security clearances which include additional nationality checks. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals.  This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.
