Our South East Technical Surveillance Unit (SETSU) provides a comprehensive technical capability to the South East regional forces, specialist investigative teams and law enforcement partners.

The successful applicants will provide specialised technical services and expert advice in respect of covert surveillance (applying SEROCU and national standards) in support of investigations/operations into serious organised crimes and counter terrorist operations. This is an exciting role where the successful candidate will plan and prepare techniques and equipment, develop risk assessments and method statements. 

We are seeking to appoint a candidate with excellent communication skills and up-to-date knowledge of relevant technologies with proven use of computer technology and Microsoft packages. The successful applicant will be HNC qualified in Electronics, Radio or Telecommunications (or equivalent).

Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidates will hold a full UK driving licence.

This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals.  This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.

We have two vacancies, one based at Near Gatwick and the other Kidlington.  Please note the role based Near Gatwick - will be vacating premises by Autumn 2022, and roles will move to alternative sites. Detailed planning work is ongoing to identify interim and long term options, which will include planning for growth and development of Counter Terrorism Policing in the South East into the future.
