Thames Valley Police are open for police officer recruitment.

 

The role of a police officer is like no other. It can be tough and unpredictable at times but it can also be extremely rewarding and no two days are ever the same. You will work towards making life safer and more secure for those living within your local community.

 

You will be fully trained to protect the public, provide a reassuring presence in the community, support victims of crime and investigate complex offences using a mixture of cutting-edge technology and time-proven traditional methods.

 

Eligibility Criteria for EXTERNAL Candidates

Amongst other criteria, external candidates must meet the following:

* Be aged 18 years or older

* Have two A Levels graded A-E, the equivalent or higher

* Have, or are willing to get, a Certificate in Knowledge of Policing (CKP)

* Have a full manual UK driving licence

* Reside within 20 crow miles of two of our main police stations; there is potential to accept candidates living up to 30 crow miles from two main Thames Valley Police based on operational need.

               

              Applicants are reminded that a degree of flexibility is expected in terms of postings, although consideration is given to personal preferences the need of the organisation must be the priority.

               

              What We Offer

                       

                      To join Thames Valley Police as a police officer, the first stage of the recruitment process for external candidates is to attend an eligibility event. It will be an informative session for a morning or afternoon with members of People Services where they will check your documents, assess whether you are eligible to apply, run through the recruitment process and answer any questions you may have. The schedule for these events is below:

                      • Monday 06 November            17:00-19:00     Sulhamstead, Berkshire

                      • Thursday 09 November          14:00-16:00     Kidlington, Oxfordshire

                      • Thursday 09 November          10:00-12:00     Kidlington, Oxfordshire

                      • Monday 13 November            14:00-16:00     Kidlington, Oxfordshire

                      Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
