INTERNAL/EXTERNAL VACANCY

1 x full time post and 1 x part time post (18.5 hours per week)

Working primarily with uniformed officers in the various LPAs, the main purpose of the role is to provide proportionate case disposal decisions in line with Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Guidance for bail/RUI/voluntary attendance cases, act as a ‘gateway’ for Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) charging advice, and quality assure all prosecution file types (including ‘Wanted’ files); providing written and oral feedback, guidance, one to one support and training to officers. Responsibilities will also include keeping up to date with legislative changes whether by statute, case law, Home Office circulars, DPP’s guidance, codes of practice and force/CPS policies and procedures.

As part of a wider team, you will monitor the timely submission of prosecution files and be expected to organise and prioritise your joint workload to meet set timescales with minimum supervision.

You will need to demonstrate experience of problem solving and sound decision making, together with strong interpersonal, written, and oral skills, including negotiation and influencing.  Significant relevant experience and proven skills in the investigation of crime, traffic or prosecution of offenders is essential as well as a good understanding of criminal law, legislation, policies and guidance relevant to the role. Knowledge and/or experience of the wider Criminal Justice and English Legal System is desirable.

Strong MS Office IT skills including Word, Excel and Outlook are essential, as well as a good understanding of NICHE and other Police systems and databases. Significant experience in customer service or working towards NVQ Level 3 Customer Service or equivalent is also essential. You must also have the capability to travel to different locations across the Force and undertake all assignments in a timely manner. A full driving licence is considered essential as capability to travel across the Force is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly.

Applicants need to be aware that the Evidential Review Officer role is currently being reviewed as part of the Force Effectiveness and Efficiency program. Changes to working locations, hours and days of work as well as some of the role requirements may be changed from those advertised and initially offered, depending on the outcome of the review. This can be discussed further at interview.

There will be a 2 day interview process for this role, this will consist of a panel interview on day 1 and a group exercise on day 2.

The part-time post is a job share with working days being week 1:- Thurs, Fri, week 2:- Mon, Tues, Weds.
