The South East Regional Prison Intelligence Team (SERPIT) is responsible for gathering and developing intelligence from Her Majesties Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) and other associated establishments relating to national security issues and organised crime.

In this exciting role, you will support major investigations and assist with the development of intelligence, relating to serious and organised crime groups detained in HM Prisons across the SE Region. You will receive, assess, disseminate and prioritise information received from a number of sources. You will index and process intelligence material efficiently and to the highest standard. You will also collate and disseminate information and intelligence to appropriate officers, departments and agencies. You will work alongside SEROCU Regional Intelligence Bureau (RIB).

The successful applicant will have a good standard of education including excellent numeracy and literacy skills, or substantial role related experience. You will be self-motivated and able to work own initiative and effectively as a team. Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure are also essential to the role.

Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to enhanced level. In line with Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), candidates who fail to hold, acquire or maintain this vetting level cannot be offered the post.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home.
