Surveillance Trainer – Police Constable

Provide specialist expertise that enables delivery of wide ranging surveillance training to police officers, members of RMP, British Army, UK Border Agency and other law enforcement agencies.

Develop & design surveillance training to meet specialist organisational needs. Deliver high level surveillance training & ensure valid & reliable assessment standards for tutorials/tests etc.

Provide structured feedback & development plans for students and seek advice when they are failing to achieve competence.

Maintain professional development & operational competence (including keeping up to date with legislation, case law, changes in policy & procedures, technical advances etc.)

Essential role based training:

  • Level 3 Training Qualification
  • Assessor qualification

Essential Training Prior to Appointment:

Advanced car qualification (current), Q1 mobile surveillance training AND one of the below courses:

  • Rural surveillance
  • SMART surveillance
  • Firearms surveillance
  • Motorcycle surveillance

If you are currently in a Force critical post, there is an expectation that you will remain in that post for a minimum of two years before applying to change roles (or 18 months for custody sergeants).

Interviews will be conducted in line with the Career Pathways and Posting – Police Officers policy.

Candidates may be required to pass vetting and OHU or attend assessments and courses for this role. If any of these are failed the candidate will be posted back to a response role on an LPA. Postings are determined in accordance with organisational need although consideration will be given to personal circumstances.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner.
