The South East Technical Surveillance Unit (SETSU) provide professional and appropriate advice, operational support, guidance and central procurement for technical equipment. We undertake the deployment of all technical equipment and specialist services for covert operations in response to Serious Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism operations, within a single management structure for Forces within the collaborative region.

You will manage the relevant SETSU base or other locations forming part of the SETSU structure. You will deliver effective and comprehensive technical surveillance services across the region, force and department. You will ensure that SEROCU, national and authorised professional practice and corporate standards for deployment, training and procurement are adhered to. You will undertake projects, provide cover for the other bases and deputise for the Ops Manager/Head of Unit when required. This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home, potentially at short notice. The role requires you to form part of an on-call rota to support urgent operational activity. You must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced level.

For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold or acquire the appropriate security clearances (which may include STRAP) and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. As such, in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.
