Thames Valley Police is the largest non-metropolitan force in England and Wales and has a substantial portfolio spread across the three counties of Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire. The Force polices a wide variety of locations, including major towns and cities, such as Oxford, Reading and Milton Keynes, as well as extensive rural communities and a number of thriving market towns.

The Force has a substantial and diverse property portfolio of some 1.2 million sq. ft. comprising of a variety of property types, including residential accommodation, police stations, training facilities, motorway posts, radio masts and aerials, industrial/warehouse accommodation and various specialist facilities.

In this role we are looking for someone to be responsible for the survey, maintenance, repair and replacement of all Building and Civil Engineering installations throughout the force’s operational buildings and residential properties within defined geographical areas.

The successful candidate will have Corporate Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Chartered Institute of Building or similar and have a formal qualification in building construction by degree or equivalent. Substantial experience is required for managing the installation and maintenance of building installations in owner occupied and leased buildings. Previous experience of legislation and regulations relating to Building and Civil Engineering installations is required along with experience of managing budgets and the management of staff, contractors and consultants. You will be competent in Microsoft Office applications including the creation of Excel spreadsheets. Fully conversant with relevant Health and Safety legislation, you will possess NEBOSH General Certificate of Health and Safety or be willing to obtain this qualification or equivalent knowledge.
