Chiltern Transport Consortium provides a cross-border shared service and all fleet support functions for 5 police forces over 6 shire counties covering Thames Valley, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Civil Nuclear Constabulary and Hertfordshire. It’s an innovative and successful initiative that continues to provide these forces with a performance-led fleet service.

We are now looking for an Insurance Claims Technician to advise, guide and ensure positive settlements for all motor related insurance claims. You will undertake recovery of each member’s uninsured losses, determining feasibility and liaising with third parties, insurers and the Motor Insurers’ Bureau. Negotiating settlements and maintaining accurate system records, you will input and retrieve data to produce statistics and reports and provide advice, guidance and support to Police Officers, Police Staff and 3rd party insurers and members of the public. You will be the point of contact for all insurance related issues. Monitoring the performance of service providers, you will ensure we receive high quality service and best value.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with the ability to confidently address a variety of audiences and successfully negotiate and influence customers from a range of different backgrounds, at all levels. You will hold or be willing to work towards a certificate from the Chartered Institute of Insurance and you will have strong analytical and problem solving skills, be self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision, whilst being able to prioritise workloads. Working accurately and confidentially with high attention to detail whilst working under pressure. IT literate in Word, Excel and Outlook with the ability to assimilate large volumes of information and present it in appropriate formats specific to the nature of the audience. Experience of successfully managing and defusing situations involving dissatisfied customers is essential. A full driving licence is considered essential as capability to travel across the CTC member Forces is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice.
