We welcome applications from substantive Inspectors and substantive Detective Sergeants qualified for promotion for an exciting opportunity to join our Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTP SE) Intelligence team, supporting Counter Terrorism (CT) and Domestic Extremism (DE) within the South East region and, where applicable, nationally.

You will oversee the assessment and development of intelligence to effectively identify and manage risk across the CTP SE Intelligence Management Function, ensuring all information and intelligence is managed in line with the National Standards for Intelligence Management (NSIM). Training for NSIM will be provided on appointment.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. The role is expected to support the provision of a regional on call function and duty weekend cover.

For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold or acquire the appropriate security clearances and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. As such, in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

  • Substantive Officers – please click on the ‘Apply’ button (below) to submit an online application form. You will be short listed against the essential criteria. You will be required to upload your latest PDR and/CPD if you work for a Force that provides them and a copy of your training record. Thames Valley Police (TVP) Officers will also need to complete and upload the Recommendation for Appointment Form (enclosed with the job advert).
  • Officers applying on promotion - in addition to the above you will be required to upload a ‘Why Me, Why Now’ letter which outlines your motivation and suitability for the role at this time. Your evidence should also demonstrate the relevant behaviours, skills, knowledge and experience in relation to your capability in the rank of Inspector in accordance with the core competencies (CVF). The letter must be no more than two (2) sides of A4. The margins must not be modified from 2.54cm. All evidence outside the margins should be removed. You will also be required to upload your Police Officer Promotion (AO/DO) Reference Form and latest PDR (including CPD). You can upload the Reference Form in the ‘Line Managers Approval Form’ section. TVP Officers seeking promotion will not need to upload Recommendation for Appointment Form (enclosed with the job advert).
