A rare and exciting opportunity is available for a number of experienced Detective Constables, & Police Constables who hold the NIE, to join SEROCU investigations. There are 2 current vacancies at our Horsham (Sussex) team and a number of forthcoming vacancies predicated at sites near Junction 12 of the M4 (Thames Valley), and Solent (Hampshire).

The successful Police Constable posts will develop towards becoming a fully accredited PIP2 Detective Constable via SEROCU’s Investigator Development Programme. This is a brand-new innovative approach to develop the next generation of detectives whilst minimising the draw of detective resources within forces in our region.

The successful applicant(s) will act as OIC/case officer for some of the most challenging but rewarding investigations into serious & organised crime.

We are seeking highly capable candidates, an enquiring mind and sound professional knowledge. Leading the response to SOC requires innovation, tenacity, a problem-solving approach. A background in covert investigations, tactics and/or serious and organised crime is desirable, but we can develop your skills and knowledge.

The successful candidates will be able to effectively and efficiently manage complex investigations, managing competing demands and critically analyse vast amounts of information. These candidates, including those joining the PIP2 Investigator Development Programme will be fully supported to develop themselves into becoming a well-rounded detective with specialist skills in covert policing and investigating serious and organised crime.

Q1 mobile surveillance is not required to apply for this role.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the South East. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC.  In order to achieve this, you must have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government) and studying abroad.
