Event -- Specialist Entry Detective recruitment evening Milton Keynes on Tuesday 25 July at 19:00

What will be your first major breakthrough?

Thames Valley Police will shortly be opening a new and exciting career pathway for people outside of uniformed policing to join us as detective constables.

The Specialist Entry Detective Programme will see you join a professional and dedicated team, carrying out a wide variety of crime investigations, including serious and complex cases, cyber-crime and crimes against vulnerable people.

Initially joining as a uniformed student police officer, you will gain experience of both investigation and response work during your first year. During the second year, you will work as a temporary detective constable and be required to pass all necessary assessments, including the National Investigators Exam (NIE), before being confirmed in post as a detective constable.

As the policing landscape continues to increase in complexity, it’s imperative that we are able to attract the best talent into our ranks. This new entry route represents a fantastic opportunity for talented and skilled individuals interested in pursuing a career as a detective.

We’re looking for effective decision makers; people who can prioritise their workload and find innovative solutions to problems so we can hold people to account and work to make our communities safer.

If you think you have what it takes to become a successful detective and you meet the Police Officer eligibility criteria, you can register to attend one of our recruitment evenings. There will be serving detectives in attendance to give you an insight to the role as well as a breakdown of the recruitment process.
