The National Fusion capability provides satellite enabled connectivity in the intelligence facets of responses to terrorist incidents and operations. In this exciting role, you will plan and provide logistical coordination and planning support to the National Fusion capability.

The role places particular emphasis on support in respect of the maintenance satellite capabilities and operational deployment security of the Secure Mobile Capabilities (SMC) and the Secure Portable Capabilities (SPC).You will provide a contingency and operational planning capability for such deployments and assist in preparatory activity that includes training and exercising in the role of a subject matter expert.

You will have excellent communication, organisational, planning and time management skills. You must be able to work effectively, both as part of a team and unsupervised. Proven knowledge and experience of investigative and evidential considerations is also essential to the role as is experience of working long hours away from home.

Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to Developed Vetting (DV) level. Furthermore, due to the nature and sensitivity of work carried out we require that candidates not only hold this vetting level but that they also undertake additional security clearances which include additional nationality checks. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home for extended periods. For this reason a full UK driving licence, including C1 qualification and willingness to undertake further driver training is considered essential.


Please note that although this role is currently based Near Gatwick, we will be vacating our current premises by Autumn 2022 Near M4, Junction 12, and roles will move to alternative sites. Detailed planning work is ongoing to identify interim and long term options, which will include planning for growth and development of Counter Terrorism Policing in the South East into the future.
