Counter Terrorism Policing Borders (CTPB) officers are at the front line of protecting national security from the threats posed by Terrorism and Serious & Organised Crime.

Officers are tasked to manage the known and unknown threats posed by individuals and groups seeking to travel across borders in furtherance of terrorism and serious organised crime. The role is intrinsic to the UK Counter Terrorism Strategy and supporting the British Intelligence Services in mitigating the threat to UK interests at home and abroad.

As part of the Borders Policing Team you will:

  • Undertake examination of persons using Schedule 7 Terrorism Act 2000.
  • Undertake examinations of person using Schedule 3 Counter Terrorism and Border Security Act 2019.
  • Gather quality intelligence in relation to terrorism, extremism and serious and organised crime.
  • Disseminate intelligence to partner agencies to enable the process of further investigation.
  • Detect and seize cash from persons involved or suspected to be involved in terrorism or criminal activity
  • Undertake tasking relating to priority CT investigations under the direction of a CT SIO.
  • Respond to alerts generated by the National Border Targeting Centre (NBTC) and PNC Markers.
  • Support to CT safeguarding issues, child abduction and family court matters.
  • Establish close working relationships with key partner agencies both in the UK and overseas.
  • Proactively police the UK border in partnership with UK Border Force, NCA and local Police.
  • Act as part of the initial response to any terrorism related incidents that take place at the Border.
  • Occasionally deploy in support of colleagues who work in other CTPSE departments.

Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC.  In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and  have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.

  • Kent Officers will need to inform Kent HR Resource Planning at the earliest opportunity of intention to apply.   Every Officer application form must be signed by the Chief Supt or police staff equivalent and sent to Kent HR Resource Planning no later than 5 working days prior to closing date unless exceptional circumstances apply. This is required so that Chief Officer approval can be obtained for the application to progress, which will be managed by Kent HR Resource Planning.  These steps must be completed prior to submission application.  If your application for an opportunity is not approved prior to submission to the recruiting organisation you may not be supported for release to the role, should you be successful.
