Applications are open for an exciting and challenging role as a Police Staff Investigator on the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit. You will be responsible for assessing and managing risk, and investigating high risk domestic abuse across the West of Berkshire. You will participate in safeguarding work with partner agencies and seek to protect the most vulnerable from abuse by bringing offenders to justice. 

You’ll work in a lively, energetic and fast-moving department alongside a combination of civilian staff, trainee detectives and experienced detectives. You’ll be supported as you learn the specialist skills and knowledge you need to excel in this department and we put a strong emphasis on staff welfare.  You will be required to attend court to give evidence.  

It is essential that you have effective communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide audience along with proven analytical and decision making skills.  You will also be self- motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision. 

Capability to travel across the Force is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly.  Due to unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working public transport may not be suitable.  For this reason a full driving licence is considered essential for this role.

Candidates must have the PIP1 accreditation or equivalent investigative experience to apply for this role.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice.
