You can view our force commitment here.

Thames Valley Police serves diverse communities; to truly reflect this, we are keen to recruit more officers from Black, Asian and other minority backgrounds. If you are from an underrepresented background and feel you would benefit from additional support, please contact the Positive Action and Engagement Team via positiveactionteam@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk

We have exciting opportunities available for experienced police constables from all backgrounds currently serving with other Home Office Forces to join a forward thinking, modern Police Force. As well as many staff benefits we provide you a wide range of career opportunities, specialist posts, as well as development and promotion prospects. Being a large Force there are many opportunities to specialise and get promoted, we run promotions boards for PC to Sergeant on an annual basis. If you think you have the skills and passion we are looking for and are able to show commitment to achieving high levels of attendance and performance then apply now.

The recruitment process will follow a set programme of application, paper sift, competency based interview, vetting (including biometrics),medical checks, reference checks and fitness test. Numerous interview dates are available and we can accommodate a range of dates for medical appointments and fitness tests. Amongst other eligibility criteria, applicants must live within twenty crow miles of one of our main police stations. Applicants are expected to show a degree of flexibility in terms of postings in order for us to meet our operational requirements in serving the public.  There are separate adverts on our website and application processes for Detective Constables to transfer to Thames Valley Police. We are not currently open for transferees at any other rank than constable.

If you live outside of 20 crow miles from one of our main stations then please give us a call to discuss your options prior to submitting an application.

The next intake for officers to transfer has been confirmed as 13 January 2020. We have other proposed intakes planned throughout 2020 which are confirmed to be in March.

All officers must attend an initial two week induction course at our Police Training Centre in Sulhamstead near Reading, accommodation is available for those who live outside of travelling distance.

If you require any further information about transferring to Thames Valley Police, please email Transferees@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk or telephone 01865 845 587.

Benefits

Police Officers and Police Staff have access to a fantastic range of benefits, dependant on role, location and length of service. To view a full list of our benefits please click here

Important

All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.

At Thames Valley Police, we are committed to better reflect the communities that we serve.  We encourage applications from our under represented communities including all ethnic or religious backgrounds, LGBTQ+, women and those with disabilities.

Within our organisation we have a number of active staff support networks.  We are proud to be a ‘Disability Confident’ Level 2 ‘Employer’ that is supported by RAMP – our dedicated reasonable adjustments process.   For more information, please visit our ‘Supporting You’ page on our website, www.tvpcareers.co.uk/supporting-you.

We are also proud to have a Positive Action and Engagement team who can provide support and guidance to anyone from a Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic background throughout the Police Officer recruitment process as well as advise on career development and progression.  They can be contacted via: positiveactionteam@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk
