A number of exciting staff opportunities have arisen within the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) during its formation of the Serious Organised Crime Problem Solving Team. 

Led by a Detective Inspector this team will co-ordinate focussed activity against high threat Organised Crime offenders impacting on the South East of England.  The team will ensure that forces and other agencies have a strategy against each offender, use the full array of controlling legislative powers, offender management techniques and partnership opportunities. 

On inception the team will have three core elements of MARSOC (Multi-Agency Response to Serious Organised Crime), Disruptions Coordination and SCPO (Serious Crime Prevention Order) Coordination and powers advice.  The team will specialise in an area, but will work across the disciplines, forming an agile group of specialists for policing and partners across the region.  The SCPO element will benefit from an embedded evaluation being conducted on behalf of the Home Office, giving those involved an opportunity to experience their work having an impact on shaping national decisions at a government level.

We welcome applications from substantive Police/Detective Sergeants for an exciting secondment opportunity with the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) Problem Solving Team (PST).

You will increase the impact on serious and organised crime in the South East by identifying opportunities for disruptions and maximising their effectiveness.

You will be a regional focal point for disruption facilitation and work in partnership with key stakeholders. You will advise and lead a cross region team of six people to deliver disruptions bringing together Policing and partners.

You will have proven experience of managing a team as well as excellent communication/interpersonal skills. You must be able to demonstrate experience in one or more of the following areas; Serious/complex crime investigation, providing formal tactical advice for law enforcement operational planning, planning multi-agency operational activity or community intelligence gathering.

Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to Developed Vetting (DV) level. For roles based Near M4, Junction 12, due to the nature and sensitivities of the work carried out at this site, we require that candidates not only hold this vetting level but that they also undertake additional security clearances which include additional nationality checks. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.
