We welcome applications from substantive Chief Inspectors for an opportunity to work as part of Counter Terrorism Policing Unit (CTPSE) on behalf of the South East region.

In this role you will work as deputy to the Head of Investigations, leading a team of CTSIOs and covert operatives; you will also undertake the role of Counter Terrorism Senior Investigating Officer (CTSIO) and investigate serious crime and critical incidents as they arise. You will provide oversight to counter terrorism investigations and work with partners to ensure efficient and effective use of resources to mitigate risks to national security.

To be successful in this role you will have previously undertaken the role of SIO or DSIO in serious crime management and investigation. You will also have experience of managing investigations using covert tactics in either Counter Terrorism Policing, Serious Organised Crime investigations, or serious / major crime investigations. You will be a qualified detective (to PIP2 or PIP3) and a skilled communicator.

Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to Developed Vetting (DV) level. Furthermore, due to the nature and sensitivity of work carried out we require that candidates not only hold this vetting level but that they also undertake additional security clearances which include additional nationality checks. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.

You will be also required to upload the Recommendation for Appointment Form (enclosed with the Job Advert) in the ‘Line Managers Approval Form’. Thames Valley Police (TVP) officers who have already passed the TVP Promotion, can apply as a substantive (above application requirements).
