Digital Forensic Services are vital to helping our officers to combat crime, protect the vulnerable, enable safer communities, and make a difference that really matters. Thames Valley Police is making a multi-year investment in our Forensic Investigation Unit and is transforming our wide array of forensic disciplines and in particular digital forensics, to create a forward looking, accredited service which delivers proportionate timely services that support effective crime investigation for TVP and other external organisations.  

As part of this transformation, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Digital Portfolio of Forensic Investigation Unit (FIU) as a Forensic Multimedia Officer – two posts. 

Reporting to the Forensic Multimedia Operational Supervisor, you will be responsible for activities such as: 

  • Capture and post processing of Laser Scan data of Major incidents across the Force.
  • Provide advice and direction to officers in the most effective methods of presenting visual evidence for their investigation, through mapping, imagery and point cloud data.
  • Create 3D reconstructions of crime scenes using a variety of multimedia sources to illustrate critical evidence
  • Design and deliver bespoke specialist technical forensic photography training programmes.
  • Production of evidential maps and plans of crime scenes
  • Production of forensic imagery to be used as expert evidence
  • Support CSI’s with photographic knowledge and use of camera equipment
  • Write Witness statements and act as a professional witness in court.

The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:

  • Utilising graphics and other imaging software packages to produce immersive crime scene reconstructions.
  • DSLR Photography and / or experience in Measured Surveying
  • Experience working with Ordnance Survey mapping data and an understanding of GIS
  • Experience of Working with image/video editing software (Adobe Photoshop and Premier Pro) and / or Auto-CAD with 3D imagery software tools.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and fill any skill gaps with on the job training that will be provided.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice.
