Contact Management answer 1.9 million calls and creates approximately 600,000 incidents per annum requiring deployment from these calls. The deployment of officers to incidents is managed through the Control Rooms via the Airwave radio communication network. We are looking for an Airwave Operational Manager to ensure maximum strategic, tactical and operational benefit is derived from the use and deployment of the Airwave communication network and allied technologies and processes.

You will provide advice to the business in terms of tactical usage and strategic direction along with providing advice to the Force and partner agencies in preparation for, and response to, major operational requirements. Through a variety of delivery methods, you will also drive continual improvement by supporting the development of colleagues and act as technical and business specialist in the implementation of any changes.

The successful candidate will have effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate at senior levels. They will have excellent problem solving and decision making skills with proven ability to maintain confidentiality. Enhanced knowledge and experience of strategic and tactical deployment of Airwave technology with a proven track record in operational delivery is essential. Proven ability to design, produce and interpret management information is also a requirement for the role.

Staff wishing to apply for a seconded role should be aware the secondment process is under review. The proposal is to move staff to the salary/grade of the seconded role for the duration of the temporary appointment, which could mean either a rise or fall in individuals’ salary. Subject to some flexibility for candidates with previous experience and/or transferable skills.
