An exciting opportunity has arisen for Prosecution Case Worker to join our Investigations team, part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU).

You will assist all investigating officers in all criminal/civil investigations (either in the Magistrates/ Crown Courts or Civil High Courts) in the difficult and complex presentation of criminal investigations, complying with ACPO/CPS/Statute/stated case guide lines on disclosure (CPIA).You will act as Disclosure/exhibits Officer dealing with CPIA and management of documentation and exhibits created during an investigation Magistrates / Crown Court and Civil High Court in to provide a fair process for a trial.

You will build files for criminal investigations, ensuring all MG forms are completed, statements, exhibits, unused material are submitted within designated time periods as defined in ACPO guidelines and submission to CPS. You will contact officers who attend on warrant to send general disclosure requests, updating relevant systems as to decisions in relation to disclosure and producing further documentary information. You will liaise with various agencies including Crown prosecution service, barristers and other judicial authorities. You will attend meetings, case conferences and provide advice and guidance on material disclosed, providing additional disclosure evidence when required at the request of the CPS or upon receipt of a defence statement.

You will have experience and knowledge of court process, case file building and completion of the Prosecution Manual of Guidance (although training can be provided). You will have good knowledge of Criminal Procedure Rules CPIA (Disclosure of material) and the Attorney Generals Guidelines on Disclosure in criminal and civil investigations. You will have the ability to deal with sensitive/confidential information. Effective communication skills and proven experience of working within a team environment, organisational and time management skills are also essential to the role.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. For this reason a full UK driving licence is considered essential. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. You must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced level.
