Cloud solutions, Automatic Number Plate recognition systems, Crown Prosecution e-files, virtual desktop infrastructure… gone are the days when IT was seen as a ‘support function’. We have now combined the expertise from both Thames Valley Police and Hampshire Constabulary into a single department servicing both forces.

The role

 

The purpose of this role is to manage ICT Projects including assets and resources within Project scope. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the allocated Project (covering one or more Forces) to ensure the technical development/delivery, resourcing and vendor management planning is up to date and accurate. You will be working with different teams across ICT; Architecture, Service Delivery, Security, Dev/Ops to ensure that the projects fit with the approved architectures, are secure and can be operated managed and supported in a cost effective manner.

 

The essentials

 

• Experienced ICT Project Manager having managed ICT projects in a similarly complex environment using an industry recognised approach such as PRINCE 2.
• Knowledgeable in principles, methods, techniques and tools for the preparation and monitoring of budgets to minimise costs and ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Proficient in methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of a programme of projects and related activities through to the successful achievement of planned business benefits.
• Experienced in effective and efficient deployment of resources, including reassessment and reallocation in a dynamic multi-project environment, to achieve optimum results.
• Knowledgeable in Project Risk Management. Being able to effectively and efficiently manage risk within the project.
• Has an industry wide understanding of IT Architecture, Networks, Cloud Technologies & Infrastructure.
• Expert in Project Planning and Control Techniques Methods and techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects e.g. product / work breakdown structures, baselining, critical path analysis, earned value, resource analysis, conflict resolution.
• Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to work in a customer focused environment and part of a team.  Must be flexible, adaptable, and able to solve problems while working systematically with little direct supervision.
• Experience of developing and delivering projects in similar sized & complex organisations.
• Must have capability to travel regularly to different locations across Thames Valley Police and Hampshire Constabulary. For this reason a full UK driving licence is considered essential.
