This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic architecture team supporting Hampshire & Thames Valley Police. This senior role will focus on providing architecture support for the forces records management application focussing on the interoperability between core applications and other business systems. The role will include exposure to many innovative technologies including, Private Cloud, Public Cloud (SaaS, PaaS & IaaS) and Office 365.

 

The Role

 

  • Responsible as a subject matter expert and technical design authority for the force records management system; a single, unified, operational policing system that manages information in relation to the core policing entities – people, locations, vehicles, organisations, incidents and property/evidence.
  • Responsible for developing solutions across infrastructure, networks and application environments.
  • Define and exploit new and existing force technologies.
  • Support the research, evaluation, selection and impact assessment of change and new technologies.
  • Proven communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships, with stakeholders      internally and externally.
  • Must have capability to travel regularly to different locations across the South East region.

 

Essential Skills Required

 

  • Experience working in a cross-functional programme team, providing design guidance, leadership and impact assessment as part of a rolling change programme.
  • Knowledge and experience of integration and secure communication between multiple infrastructure systems. e.g. on-premises to other on-premises systems and on-premises to public cloud.
  • Experience of operating within a secure environment and working knowledge of the Government Security Classification Scheme.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and become a design authority in new technologies.
  • Broad technical expertise & understanding of complex technologies & design.
  • At least 10 years’ experience working within large scale solution design, including:

                Public cloud

                Networking

                Storage

                Virtualisation


  • Microsoft technology stack including AD, SQL, Windows Server, Windows 8/10
  • Proven experience of producing quality conceptual, high and low design documentation including quality assurance on third party designs.
  • Proven experience of translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with customers and internal stakeholders, and ability to present ideas and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Leadership and problem solving skills, working with and influencing external vendors, deployment partners, business partners and internal ICT teams.
