PIP1 Investigator (Fixed Term Contract/Secondment)
Fixed term contract/ Secondment until 30th September 2021.
Preventing and thoroughly investigating crime, supporting victims and bringing offenders to justice. In this role you will assist police officers, by taking responsibility for the investigation of criminal offences and other incidents, and prepare case papers, ensuring file completeness and delivery in accordance with deadlines. Responding to priority crime requires flexibility and often working protracted hours often at short notice. Duties will include taking statements from witnesses and victims, interviewing suspects in custody, whilst managing case investigations and completing accurate prosecution files. You will be required to attend court to give evidence.
Proven experience of working within an investigatory type role, using working knowledge and experience of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice procedures is essential. You will have good customer service skills, engaging with people at all levels, sometimes in confrontational situations. You must be able to maintain confidentiality whilst working under pressure, manage a demanding workload and act on your own initiative. You will also have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. You must have capability to travel to different locations and undertake all assignments in a timely manner. For this reason a full UK driving licence is considered essential.
A good standard of education with excellent verbal, written English and good numeracy skills is essential. Please note that due to the length of this contract, the PIP 1 accreditation is considered essential as training cannot be provided.
