Preventing and thoroughly investigating crime, supporting victims and bringing offenders to justice. This commitment can’t be achieved by any one person alone; it relies upon a team of over 8,000 staff, officers and volunteers, working alongside partner agencies and the public. Exciting challenges lie ahead – new digital technologies and ways of working are transforming the way we protect our communities. To ensure we deliver a high-quality service, we require the very best talent to be a part of the TVP family.

We are looking for an Architectural CAD Technician/BIM Manager to work in the force’s Property Services Department which is based in modern business park offices in Kidlington.

The main functions of this role are:

Architectural CAD Technician: Provide a professional drawing and associated building data management service for the Property Services Department utilising CAD systems. In addition you will provide a space planning service to assist in the effective management of the Force’s estate.

You will also assist with developing cost-effective planning solutions on projects and capture as-built information to update the existing drawing information. You will provide CAD support to your colleagues and organise any required training for them.

You will maintain the estate management information through regular meetings and visits to ensure up-to-date information remains readily available to the department.

BIM Manager: Responsible for BIM standards development, implementation and enforcement. You will support the development of BIM requirements on individual projects and the integration of data from these projects into TVP drawings and the central CAFM system. You will host in-house BIM working group to aid TVP in the implementation of BIM; including the creation of an appropriate, manageable and realistic AIR to effectively move forward.

The force has an Asset Management Plan which focuses on rationalising the estate and improving utilisation of retained buildings. The Architectural CAD Technician/BIM Manager will play a key role in ensuring floor plans, GIS maps and occupancy data are up to date, working with others in assessing opportunities and implementing improvements.

Essentially you will have a recognised AutoCAD qualification such as City and Guilds 2300 or equivalent. The role requires a high level of knowledge of AutoCAD, with importantly experience with blocks and managing attribute information and its link to our CAFM systems. In addition, a working knowledge of Autodesk Revit, NavisWorks and Microsoft Windows based applications along with recent and relevant experience in implementing space planning systems and co-ordinating and managing CAD and BIM systems.

You will have a recognised building and constructions qualification such as HNC in Building Studies and/or a degree in an associated subject with previous experience of surveying spaces. Good communication and time management skills are essential in order to deal effectively with your own workload and sometimes complex technical work for colleagues, working with internal stakeholders at all levels and with external consultants also. Previous experience of working in a project management environment is required together with the ability to give clear technical advice both verbal and written. ARCMap GIS skills are desirable but not essential.
