The role

 

Your role is to work as part of a team to support and maintain efficient and effective ICT systems across virtual, physical and cloud server infrastructure environments. You will be expected to create, maintain and enhance the documentation of supported and newly implemented systems and hardware to ensure knowledge transfer amongst your colleagues within Joint ICT. You are expected to help with the implementation, maintenance and support of software/hardware, Microsoft patching and resolving incidents using your natural problem-solving skills. You will need to ensure a timely response to requests for the support, resolution and management of systems according to agreed procedures and SLA’s. You will be expected to provide technical guidance and input to support projects through the implementation of servers and data in order to meet business objectives.

 

The essentials

 

  • Experience operating within multi-platform environments, including private and public cloud services such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS)

 

  • Good technical knowledge including a broad understanding of varied and complex systems across different platforms and environments.

 

  • Analysis and resolution of a diverse range of incidents impacting operational services including the initial response to service disruption and escalating as appropriate in accordance to defined processes.

 

  • Use problem resolving techniques and technical knowledge to respond to all incidents and monitoring alerts to ascertain the nature of the fault and any remedial action required enforcing good practice.

 

  • Perform a thorough handover of incident and environmental information through shift changes to colleagues within the team.

 

  • Has a broad appreciation of structured cabling systems as well as Local Area Network (LAN) technologies.

 

  • Possesses an understanding of Microsoft Server technologies as well as some knowledge of enterprise      backup and virtualisation solutions.

 

  • Proven ability to work in teams with little or no direct supervision as well as having good written and oral communication skills to articulate accurate information to technical and non-technical audiences.

 

  • Must have capability to travel to different locations across the Forces, partner sites and suppliers and undertake all assignments in a timely manner. For this reason a full UK driving licence is considered essential.
