We welcome applications from substantive Detective Constables for an exciting opportunity to join our Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTP SE) Investigations team.

You will undertake proactive and reactive investigations in relation to terrorism and extremist criminal activity, gathering evidence to eliminate them from enquiries. Utilising TACT/PACE legislation, you will assess their involvement in the offence assisting with the execution of search warrants.

At times there will be a requirement to support the Forensic Management Team reviewing digital media associated with an investigation and assist with the preparation of evidential prosecution files.

We are looking for somebody who has completed the CID foundation course or successfully completed the ICIDP plus a Tier 2 interview course. You must have experience of investigating serious or complex crime with evidence of the preparation of Crown Court cases and the associated files.

The ideal person would possess experience of intelligence led investigations and working in a partnership environment. You must be able to demonstrate up to date knowledge of law in to the investigation of serious crimes with particular reference to RIPA, ECHR, Data Protection legislation and ACPO guidance regarding the Recording and Dissemination of Intelligence Material.

Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to enhanced vetting level.

Furthermore, due to the nature and sensitivity of work carried out we require that candidates not only hold this vetting level but that they also undertake additional security clearances which include additional nationality checks. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home.
