Technology Services is a function within the Joint ICT Department of Hampshire Constabulary and Thames Valley Police. We are responsible for keeping the blue lights on and delivering innovative solutions to ensure Police Officers and staff can access key services that allow us to stay online, connected and ahead of the game. We are looking for dynamic technologists to help support our next generation infrastructure environment. 

Working within our Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) team, you will be responsible for supporting different infrastructure platforms, and delivery mechanisms, including Cloud, IaaS, and hybrid. Our server engineers are responsible for the provisioning, deployment, configuration, and administration of the server environments. 

You will play a key role in supporting our business-as-usual initiative responsible for resolving technical issues, assist with lifecycle management of existing solutions and carry out routine housekeeping and maintenance checks to maximise system availability. You will apply functional knowledge and technical support to our various infrastructure offerings and contribute towards innovative solutions to our customers. 

Essential skills: 

  • Experienced in Microsoft Azure Cloud infrastructure technology
    • Deployment and configuration of Azure Cloud services
    • Ongoing configuration and maintenance of Azure Cloud services
    • Azure tenancy administration
    • Migration of infrastructure assets and systems to Azure Cloud platform
    • Azure Storage and capacity planning, backup, and Disaster Recovery
    • Integration and use of Cloud monitoring tools 
  • Demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills to investigate, diagnose, and rectify issues relating to services in an enterprise environment. 
  • Able to achieve significant outcomes through influence and persuasion rather than through direct line authority. 
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, customer focused, who is a flexible, adaptable, problem solver and able to work systematically within a team and with little direct supervision. 
  • Able to understand and articulate how the application of ICT technology impacts the organisation, business objectives and processes, ideally within policing or public sector. 
  • Able to interpret, design and challenge complex designs, and have strong communication skills including experience in communicating complex technical information to different target audiences. 
  • Ability to produce high quality technical documentation. 
  • Must have the capability to travel to different locations across both Forces and undertake all assignments in a timely manner. For this reason, a full UK driving licence is considered essential.
