If so Thames Valley Police are looking to recruit you to join as a Police Contact Enquiry Officer.

You will be the first point of contact for all members of the public visiting the police station. You will deal with victims and offenders, managing their expectations, offer support and reassurance to vulnerable people and reason with and calm emotional, angry and aggressive visitors. You will check and record details in police IT systems. You will also deal with internal customers and will provide a high quality customer service to all, in accordance with current legislation, policy and procedures. There will be general administration and the responsibility for dealing with the receipt and return of property.


You will need to be assertive and have the ability to remain calm and think logically in challenging situations. You must have the ability to be sensitive and understanding to the needs of an emotional victim and have an appreciation of confidentiality and diversity. Problem solving and decision making skills are essential, as is the ability to work both as part of a team and independently. You will have the ability to undertake physical Personal Safety Training.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
